Young Performer Therapy
Trauma-informed movement psychotherapy for actors, dancers and young people in film, TV and theatre.
My work supports young performers including actors, dancers, and those working in film, television, and theatre, who are navigating the emotional and physical demands of performance environments. I specialise in performance-based anxiety, overwhelm, and the pressure of intense training and schedules.
I offer a trauma-informed approach, creating a safe, attuned space where young people can regulate their nervous system, build emotional resilience, and process experiences at their own pace.
I integrate Dance Movement Psychotherapy with Authentic Movement, allowing expression through the body rather than words alone. This can be especially powerful for young performers who are used to external direction, offering a space to reconnect with their internal voice, build self-trust, and move from a place of authenticity rather than pressure.
This approach is particularly effective for neurodivergent individuals. Movement-based therapy reduces reliance on verbal processing and supports sensory integration, emotional regulation, and self-expression in a way that feels natural, accessible, and non-judgemental.
Sessions are creative, grounded, and tailored to the individual. The focus is on developing emotional regulation, confidence, and a strong internal sense of safety - essential foundations for sustaining wellbeing within high-pressure performance spaces.
I work from Maitri Studios near Belfast City Centre.
